3/17/23 For at least 1 month now, this store has been closed...I think longer than a month. Yet I saw something going on this past week. It looks like new owners could taking over the store, but I don't think the store is going to stay as a barbecue restaurant. This store is In a very good location and i hope whatever the store becomes, the owners make use of this location wisely. Especially if it is a food and drink restaurant. As of right now, the District BBQ still closed with a sign on the door that suggests the store was shutdown. Read the notice and make your own opinion.
As someone who's been living in TX for a long time and eaten at the top rated BBQ places, I think I know good BBQ and District BBQ is it. I was shocked to find cue this good outside of TX. I was a naysayer about their food and expected to be disappointed and I just want to say I was pleasantly surprised. I looove beef burnt ends and theirs was great. I also really like the dinosaur beef ribs. I've had dry beef ribs and I'm happy to say theirs was not. I enjoyed everything I ate and when I'm in the DMV, this place is a must! To the babies crying because they don't serve pork anymore, get a grip. There are a million other places you can go eat pork. Giving them a bad review bc of this is just salty and in some of these reviews, your islamophobia is showing.
We drove 40 min away from home to go to this place. To our surprise, the trip was worth it. The restaurant atmosphere and customer service were extremely friendly. The bathrooms were clean. Our order was placed within 5 minutes. The menu is extremely easy to read and the staff will give you their best recommendations. We ordered half a chicken, half a pound of brisket, and half a pound of chopped brisket. The food is cooked and prepared to perfection. The hospitality of the staff is an extra element that makes this place special. The different types of BBQ sauces are there for you to experiment with and find your favorite amongst them. I was very impressed with how perfectly the meat was cooked. I was even more impressed by how everything was seasoned to perfection. We will take another 40-minute drive to indulge in this delicious food.
I really like the food here, at least what I tried. I tried the pulled pork sandwich, the pulled chicken sandwich, and the baked beans... and they were all very great. The only downside is that the drink options are very limited, there is nothing good as far as drinks go in my opinion. It would be great to see a few natural juice and soda options as well. I also did not see a recycling bin, just a trash can. Other than that, all else was good.
